Large Vintage Sterling Silver Marcasite Mask Face Pendant Brooch
This is a large dramatic marked sterling silver mask face pendant brooch set with many marcasites throughout the headdress and with a row of emerald green stones down the center. The eyes are set with flat black stones. I have not tested the green and black stones so must assume they are paste. The headdress has 3 layers. There is a circle composed of 3 rows of marcasites, then a horn shaped piece with 4 rows of stones, and an arrow shaped center with 3 rows of stones, including the green stones down the center. In the center of the circle is a filigree background. The face is smoothly modeled with almond shaped eyes. The back has a generous loop at the top to accommodate a chain. There is also a pin back with an old fashioned rabbit eared safety catch. The pendant is marked 925 for silver content near the bail.
