This is a beautiful enameled Georgian 15K gold (unmarked but tested) brooch that depicts a rustic family scene of a blacksmith working at his anvil and a pretty mother nursing her baby. Her right breast is exposed and the baby has eyes close in contentment. They appear to be both seated outside the blacksmith's shop, an edge of which can be seen on the right. He is seated on a stump of wood and she is sitting on a bench. There is a church spire in the background and trees frame a rosy sky. The scene has a decorative border with white and black enameling. The brooch has a simple C clasp.
This brooch weighs 6.9 gr. It measures 1.375" x 1.125".
Condition: There is a section of enamel loss on the right edge just below where the blacksmith is seated. There are some superficial scratches in the enameled surface. Also some (blankety blank) has found it necessary to scratch a bit on the back, probably to test the gold content.
This is a rare image, so sweet. It is a beautiful brooch and fortunately the bit of enamel damage doesn't impact the body of the scene.
