This stylized Mexican Taxco eagle mark sterling silver brooch features a dark patinated running or leaping deer or stag. The deer is cut into the flat surface of the silver. The flat silver base was then slightly cupped outward on the ends. It is similar to the Scandinavian Mid Century Modern designs of the 1950s. This brooch is well marked on the back with a worn eagle mark with 3 in the center, and TAXCO STERLING MEXICO 925 in a circle around the maker's initials - AEC or REC or REG. The eagle mark was in use from 1940s -1980 or so. The back has its original pin with functional safety catch.
The brooch weighs 16.2 gr. It measures 2.625" x 1.25".
Condition is good.
The design is wonderful and so is the craftsmanship in this fine brooch.
