Early 1900s Japanese Carved Mother of Pearl Necklace Slide

This is a finely crafted early 1900s Japanese carved mother of pearl slide that has never been removed from its original display box. I chose to not undo the original purple display ribbon to remove the slide. The mother of pearl is carved as 2 daisy or chrysanthemum flowers framed by a pair of leaves. The back has a silver tone metal backing with 2 slide bars. This can be easily slipped onto a black velvet ribbon band to be worn as a choker necklace. There is even a silver tone metal clasp included on the purple ribbon band that can be put to use.

This piece is called an obidome. It is a decoration worn on an obi sash belt. It is slid on a strap which goes around the middle of the obi and sits in front on the flat part of the obi. Though this is the original use it makes a fine necklace slide as well.

The slide measures 1" x 1.875" .

Condition is good. The wooden box has no lid.

This is a unique piece, for a special person.
