This is a handsome antique Victorian period Etruscan Revival style brooch in Pinchbeck set with garnet red glass cabochon stones. There are no markings. The clasp is a skillful replacement, with standard pin stem and safety clasp. There is a small empty loop on the back that would have once held a safety chain. There are 4 small stones and 1 larger one in the center. The smaller stones each surmount a domed coil of wire.
This brooch weighs 11.4 gr. It measures 1.375" x 1.375".
Condition: There is some slight surface wear to the center stone. Clasp is a later replacement, but well done. Safety chain is missing.
Though not quite perfect, this is still a fine piece and very emblematic of the Etruscan Revival style.
