This is a fine 19th century antique 13" tall carved wood jointed manikin or mannequin doll. He or she has a short wavy unparted hair style thus could represent either a young man or boy, or a girl. The figure is jointed at 14 points; neck, waist, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles - making it possible to pose in many realistic ways. There was once a mark of some sort on the back, but it is illegible now.
Condition is good.
Doll figures like this sometimes served as artist model figures, but they also were play things - as what child wouldn't have fun posing such a versatile figure. It is beautifully made and is ready to stand and pose for you for another 100+ years.
