This is a wonderful 20.5" tall, antique circa 1880s model 1210 size 7 china head boy doll with side parted hair, made by Alt Beck & Gottschalck. This fine fellow is on his original horse hair stuffed cloth factory made body, with leather lower arms. His antique clothing consists of red wool short pants and jacket, cotton knit stockings, disintegrating leather shoes, and a later vintage replacement white cotton shirt. The shoulder head has very crisp modeling with sharp definition, indicative of a head that was among the first made from a new mold. He has a very deep side part with waves of hair feathered out on each side. The shoulder plate is marked in the back with the ABG model number 1210 followed by a hash mark and the size number 7.
The shoulder head alone measures 5.5" tall, 5" across the shoulders, and about 2.75" deep at the base.
Condition: The china shoulder head is in good condition, no chips, cracks or repairs. There is very minorwear tot he high points of the hair color. The red wool pants have moth holes. There are some brown stains on his shirt. The leather shoes are in poor condition, included but I think they are past saving. One leather arm is beginning to separate fromt he cloth upper and needs some attention.
The chair he is shown seated in will be included, though the chair is not old. He does like to sit there and rest.
This is an uncommon model of china doll, and the extra sharp detail of the modeling makes it a prime example to add to your collection. Your girls dolls will be pleased to welcome this fine fellow into their midst.
