This is an antique Victorian period carved shell cameo representing the goddess Flora, in a black mourning Whitby jet brooch setting. The cameo depicts Flora in profile facing to the viewers right, with pearls and fruit decorating her hair. The jet setting is solid with closed back. It has an antique pin back with C clasp that is a replacement.
This brooch measures 1.625" x 2" x .325" thick.
Condition: The cameo has age related surface wear that has softened the details, but no chips or cracks. The jet setting has an antique replacement clasp, and I note one small flake on the back near the base of the hinge.
This is a lovely cameo in its original traditional jet mourning setting.
