This is a beautiful antique Victorian period sterling silver brooch set with a carved white stone cameo of a lady follower of Bacchus with grape leaves in her hair. There are no markings but the setting tests positive for silver content of sterling grade. The cameo may be white lava stone, but I am not certain of the material. It is NOT carved from ivory though. It is a harder stone material. The silver setting has a narrow frame with a simple border edge design and curlicues in the center of each side. The back has a simple T hinged pin stem and C clasp.
This brooch weighs 11.4 gr. It measures 1.5" x 1.375"
Condition is good.
An all white carved cameo is more subtle, yet quite distinctive.
