This is a circa 1900 complexly crafted gold gilded 900 silver filigree necklace chain and pendant. Each link of the chain is made from open worked filigree. The matching pendant drop is suspended from a large bail from which leaf shapes lead to the round medallion. The medallion has tiered layers of filigree plus Etruscan style wire work and it is all framed by dainty scrolls of wire. The necklace has a simple hook clasp. There are no markings. The metal tests positive for silver content slightly less than sterling grade and is estimated to be 900 grade silver.
The necklace chain measures 16" around and is just under .5" wide. The pendant drop is 4" long and 1.375" across. It weighs 26.6 gr.
Condition is good.
The craftsmanship that went into making this necklace is truly remarkable. I can't imagine what the cost would be to recreate the same today.
