This is an early 1900s era carved tortoise shell pendant on a long sterling silver necklace chain. The pendant has a large sterling (tested) bail. the chain is marked 925 Italy. The pendant is carved through with a scene of a Japanese gate and iris flowers. The chain has lozenge shaped decorative links spaced by lengths of plain chain.
The combined weight of chain and pendant is 14.3 gr. The pendant measures 2.625" diameter. The chain is 34" long.
Condition: There are a few edge nibbles on the pendant. Otherwise condition is good.
What a handsome necklace! The pendant is early 1900s, but I believe the chain is a more recent addition.
