This is an unusual circa 1900 doll house size 7.5" tall bisque gentleman doll in original clothing. This doll is not a normal shoulder head doll, nor a half doll to the waist. Rather it is a bust type head with the bisque arms jointed to the bust at the shoulders. I have had a few others of this type and the bust ends just below the breast line. Unfortunately I can't remove this doll's delicate original sewn on clothing to show this construction. Usually there is a model number on the back as well, but again this must remain a mystery for now. Below the bust is a stuffed cloth body ending in bisque legs with copper colored boots and pale yellow stockings.
This fellow has rather magnificent clothing. From the top; he has a black velvet tricorn hat trimmed with gold braid, Blue silk brocade jacket with lace jabot over a cream colored flame stitch embroidered tunic, and knee length twill silk trousers below.
Condition of all bisque parts is good. Though I can't show the bust and upper arm portions I guarantee their condition to be good and free from any damage, chips or cracks. The silk lining of his blue jacket is shattered. His trousers have stains.
This remarkable gentleman would be a fine addition to a large scale early doll house, or just to keep your other petite ladies company. These unusual bisque bust type dolls may be of French manufacture, but I have not been able to confirm this.
