This is a large gorgeous antique Victorian period carved shell flower bouquet cameo in a 14K gold brooch setting. The setting is unmarked but tests positive as 14K gold. The cameo is carved from a very thin and arched piece of shell, with the setting formed to fit the shell. The back has an old fashioned T hinged pin stem, and a replaced roll over safety clasp.
The brooch measures 2.125" x 1.875" and is up to .5" thick.
Condition: The cameo is in good condition with typical minor age lines but no cracks. The cameo is held in the bezel setting by a row of toothed prongs on each side. The prongs on one side appear to have a couple of the prongs missing, but the cameo is still secure in the setting.
This is a large and elegant early cameo.
