This is a unique hand made circa 1940s-1950s vintage coin silver South American scenic brooch of a farmer managing a plow behind a pair of oxen. The brooch has an open arch over a straight base. The background is crafted in layers to create distant hills. The man and oxen are realistically formed. The landscape includes a large cactus plant in front of the oxen. There are no markings but the metal tests positive for silver content slightly less than sterling grade, estimated to be between 800-900 grade silver. The back has a sturdy pin stem and a simple curled tube clasp.
This brooch weighs a hefty 22.6 gr. It measures 3.125" x 1.125".
Condition is good.
I love jewelry that tells a story, and this brooch is just such an example.
