This is a very large 6.5" tall German china doll shoulder head possibly made by Hertwig and marked with size number 10 on the back. This low brow hair style is a relatively common model, but is seldom found in this big size. This model was in production in the early 1900s.
The shoulder head measurements are 6.5" tall, 3.5" deep front to back at the base, 5" wide across the top of the shoulders, 4.25" across the front edge of the shoulder plate, and 13.5" head circumference.
Condition: The only defect is a chip off the doll's front bottom right corner of the shoulder plate below the sew hole - see photos.
This head has unusually painted eyes. The light blue irises are ringed by a black line. I have seen delicately painted darker lining around the eye irises before, but not this rather heavy line in contrast to a much lighter eye color. This just goes to show the inconsistencies that can be found coming out of these factories.
