This is a small bronze Japanese bronze box with a raised relief scene of ladies in a boat holding umbrellas, and a distant shore with buildings and mountains in the background. The sides of the box have flowers and leave and a Phoenix bird. There are no maker's marks. The box opens and closes well. It is heavily patinated inside. The sides of the box appear to have some gold highlighting. It is a fairly heavy box for its size.
The box measures 2.25" x 1.75" x .875".
Condition is good, with aged patina that has been left undisturbed.
I have a weakness for small decorative boxes. This would make a perfect container for a special artifact, or for a very special gift.
