This is a fine 24" tall circa 1860s- 1870s Civil War era German made flat top hair style china head doll. She has a long slender antique cloth body with patched leather lower arms. The shoulder head alone is 6.25" tall, 6.75" across the shoulders, and approximately 3.75" deep at the base. the shoulder head has no damage and only the most minor wear to the hair color on the back of the head. the modeling is nice and sharp.
She is dressed in a nice antique outfit of clothing consisting of sewn on stockings, white cotton pantaloons, cotton flannel petticoat and chemise, and white cotton petticoat, topped by a light brown wool dress with knife pleated skirt and lace trim around neck and brown velvet ribbon waist trim, with a separate blue silk bodice on top. She has a small swallow bird clip pin with paste stones on the lace at her neck.
Condition is overall good. No chips, cracks or repairs to the china head. Leather arms have been reenforced but are still patched and delicate. The antique clothing has a few age stains and holes commensurate with typical wear and tear and age.
This tall old girl displays beautifully. She would like wonderful displayed sitting in an antique child size rocking chair.
