This is a lovely circa early 1900s classic long white baby's Christening gown of white cotton fabric with a woven white on white plaid pattern. the neckline, bodice, and cuffs are trimmed with cotton lace with a white on white embroidered pattern. The gown opens in back. It has no buttons, but instead parallel button holes presumably to lace closed with a ribbon.
Measurements: The gown measures 36" long from neckline to bottom hem. It has a deep hem over 4" deep and measures 27" flat across the bottom hemline. The chest is 7" across measured along the bottom line of the yoke. The neckline is 4.25" flat across. Armhole is 3" flat across, with a 5.5" underarm sleeve length, 8" sleeve length from top of shoulder.
Condition is good. I found only 1 very small pencil tip size hole on the back yoke. The fabric is strong and clean.
This beautiful antique Christening dress could certainly be used todayfor a baby's special day.
Antique dolls, jewelry and other oddities.
