c.1910 Halley's Comet Rhinestone Brooch
This is a large clear and faceted black rhinestone set brooch commemorating the 1910 passing of Halley's Comet through our skies. The brooch features a flat faceted diamond shaped black glass piece with faceted black dome projecting from the surface. The black piece is surrounded by 8 cup set clear stones. The tail of the comet trails off one point of the diamond and is also set with rhinestones. The brooch is unmarked. The setting is base metal.

The brooch measures 3.5" long by 1.25" across at the top.
Condition is over all good. There is some wear to the metal finish on the back.There is a bit of solder over run near where the clasp was attached that appears to be an original manufacturing flaw. The black glass base has a tiny nip off one corner.
I love Halley's Comet jewelry and this one is quite unusual.
