This is a large vintage black floral mourning brooch in an early plastic material. There are no markings. The back has a typical pin stem and functional roll over safety clasp. I estimate that this brooch dates from circa 1940s when the Victorian revival style was popular. The brooch is constructed in 2 layers. The top layer has a bouquet of 2 flowers and 3 heart shaped leaves. The top layer is set upon an open worked base that surrounds it with more foliage and branches.
This brooch measures 2.75" x 1.875".
Condition is good.
This open work on this large black brooch allows the color of your clothing to show through.
