This 16" tall circa early 1900s home made cloth all original rag doll came out of a very old farmhouse in Vermont. She has a hand drawn and colored flat face, elaborately stitched brown wool yarn hair, and a charming set of clothing. Her hair is arranged in 2 joined braids in back and tied with a plaid ribbon. Her clothes consist of cotton pantaloons and slip, pleated plaid wool skirt, cream silk blouse, and black cotton velveteen jacket. She has no shoes and socks and may not have ever had any. Her arms and legs end in plain rounded nubs without definition of hands or feet.
Condition: There is some slight surface soiling. The plaid skirt is shredding apart in areas. The lace cuffs of the jacket are torn. There is one area of loss to her hair on the upper right side of her head.
I estimate that this doll dates from circa 1920s-1930s. She has a lot of charm and personality and must have pleased her child owner greatly.
