This is a delightful circa 19-teens 14" tall ethnic composition doll with reddish brown complexion and in original felt costume as an American Indian. I have not attempted to remove clothing or dig around the base of the neck to find any markings so I haven't identified the maker with certainty. Several companies, such as Averill, made versions like this.
This doll has a cloth body that feels like it is stuffed firmly with straw. The head and hands are composition. The head has a flange neck and can turn. The fringed felt clothing consists of orange pants and purple tunic; with cream trim and other embellishments.
Condition: There is paint wear to the head as seen in photos. Also a chip at the edge of the hair above the doll's right ear.The doll's left thumb is broken off. The clothing is faded.
This little Indian is not perfect but has miraculously survived intact for almost 100 years. He has a lot of personality.
