This is a fine large round early 1900s Chinese open carved nephrite jade brooch in a sterling silver setting. The back of the brooch has a partial mark ...RLING on one edge. The metal content tests positive for silver content of sterling grade. The setting has a simple bezel band to hold the stone and twisted rope border. The back has the original pin stem and functional rabbit eared roll over safety catch. The green stone is translucent and open carved with great skill.

The brooch weighs 20.3 gr. It measures 2.125" in diameter.

Condition is good. There a couple natural inclusions in the stone.

I love the subtle translucency of the green jade and the open cut out carving is nicely set off when worn over a contrasting colored garment. These old pieces of Chinese import jewelry are really coming into their own in popularity with collectors now. They are made from excellent materials and well crafted.
