This sweet 9" tall German doll from the Goebel firm wears her original commercial outfit, dating to late 1880s-90s. The mark on the back of the head is difficult to make out but should be a crown over entwined WG.
She has a bisque head with solid dome and flange neck, on a 5 piece composition body. Note the black boots with painted straps up the front of the legs. Her bright blue glass eyes are fixed in place, not sleep eyes. She has a blond mohair wig held on through sew hole in top of head as well as some glue.
Her factory original outfit includes a sweet little faded teal blue dropped waist dress in wool challis, with lace trim and a panel of deep red velvet down the front. Her bonnet is wine colored satin with a band of woven straw over the top. She has lace trimmed undergarments.
Condition: There is one wig pull on the doll's upper right forehead, but no chips, cracks or any other damage to the bisque. The ribbon on her bonnet is replaced. There is some minor loss to the woven straw band on top of the bonnet.
She is a rare and early example of this type of doll.
