This is an interesting vintage marked sterling silver blue and white enameled figural brooch pin in the realistic form of a sailor. The complete figure of the sailor is standing , dressed in his 2 piece blue enameled sailor uniform, complete with white hat and black shoes. The back is marked STERLING. It has a standard pin back with functional roll over safety clasp.
The brooch weighs 7.2 gr. It measures .625" x 1.5".
Condition is good. No loss to the enamel. Some expected tarnish.
The enameling is done with silver wire cloisonnes expertly used to also create the outlines and details of the sailors clothing. The face is formed in detailed relief. I estimate that this sailor fellow dates from sometime during one of the World War periods, but without a date mark ZI can't pin point it's exact age. He would be perfect for anyone with a favorite sailor.
