This pendant necklace features a refined glowing round opal set in a rustically finished oval ingot of sterling silver, suspended from a 14.5" long sterling chain. The pendant is not marked but the metal tests positive for silver content of sterling grade. The necklace is marked STERLING and makers initials C. T.
The combined weight of chain and pendant is 9 gr. The pendant alone is surprisingly hefty. The chain is 14.5" long. The pendant measures 1.125" x .625". The opal stone is 6mm in diameter and I estimate to be at least 3mm thick.
Condition is good, with purposefully applied patination on the front face of the pendant for contrast with the smooth shine of the opal. Chain is not original but is also vintage.
I love the abstract contrast between the uniform smooth shape and glowing color of the opal against the irregular surface of the setting. This is a one of a kind hand crafted vintage gem. If you are a one of a kind type of person, then this little beauty might be the match for you. If the chain is too short it is simple to swap it onto another chain of your choice.
