Blue Staffordshire transferware plate Ye Olde Historical Pottery Plate Perry's Victory on Lake Erie No. 4 depicts the scene of the Battle of Lake Erie painting by William H. Powell, ca. 1855 in the center. The border features four different scenes, separated by scrolls and flower decoration with a subtle undulating scalloped edge and border. The four scenes include, The Massacre of Wyoming, Moses Cleveland Monument, Gettysburg Battle Field, and The Block House Pittsburgh. The blue transfer ware is vivid with much color and detail.

The Battle of Lake Erie was one of the largest naval battles fought during the War of 1812 defeating the British and ensuring American control of the lake. The center scene shows O.H. Perry transferring from the Lawrence to Niagara. Following the battle, Perry penned the now-famous quote to his General Harrison, "....We have met the enemy and they are ours...."
