Victorian Amethyst Berry Bowl Set Hand Painted Enamel Flowers, ca. 1881-1900

Gorgeous 5-piece Victorian Berry Bowl set features amethyst colored glass with hand painted raised enamel daisy flowers with gold leaves. The set consists of a large serving bowl and four individual matching berry bowls. The bowls have a ribbed design with a star burst on the bottom and scalloped edge. I have not yet identified the hand painted design but it is similar to the "Elite" assortment believed to be Northwood Glass and offered by the Pitkin and Brooks firm, ca. 1897-1900 (according to the Harry Northwood The Early Years 1881-1900 reference book by William Heacock, James Measell and Berry Wiggins).

The large bowl measures 7 1/2 inches across the top and 4 1/8 inches tall. The four bowls measure 3 1/2 inches across and 2 inches tall. The set is free of chips, nicks, cracks and repairs. The glass is pretty and clean with light scratches from normal use and age that looks much worse in the enhanced photos than in real life. There are occasional missing specs and rubbing to the gold leaf and enamel decoration.

This beautiful early glass berry set is ideal to add to a glass collection and with its rich artistic design it would look lovely on display.
