Biography:

The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and the rural nostalgia of the Snake River Valley reflect in the meticulous watercolors by Jeffrey H. Craven. Growing up in the valleys on the Idaho side of the Tetons provide a wealth of material for an artist to draw from. Jeff was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, spent his earliest years in Swan Valley and then returned to Idaho Falls to raise his family with his wife Nancy. Craven attended Idaho State University in Fine Art and worked at theNational Engineering Laboratory as an illustrator before making the jump to full-time professional artist in 1979. An artist friend once told Jeff that his greatest accomplishment was just surviving as an artist for twenty-five years. Some of the other bright spots include his induction into the American Indian and Cowboys Artists Association and multiple selections into the Arts for the Parks Top 100. The first of which hung in the Great Hall of the Smithsonian. He has had three One-Man Shows in New York, which were reviewed favorably by the NY Times and ArtSpeaks Magazine. Craven has been selected for the Great American West Show at the prestigious Settler's West Gallery in Tucson, AZ and has been a participant in the American Miniatures Show there for a decade. February 2005, he was honored with one of his paintings being selected for the inside cover of the "Ensign", a Mormon Church Magazine with over 4 million circulation. He has won many medals for his work, but is most satisfied in the acceptance of hundreds of collectors that have maintained the demand for his work. His watercolors can be found in collections throughout the United States and Europe. Jeff and Nancy now reside at the studio which he built himself along the Snake River near Ririe, Idaho.
