1956 Christmas Collector's Plate by Royal Copenhagen

We are offering for sale a beautiful annual Christmas plate by Royal Copenhagen. This plate was created for Christmas 1956. It is in excellent condition and measures 7 ¼” in diameter. Each year two Danish Christmas plates were released, one by (B&G) Bing and Grondahl, and one by the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory. The plates are created in similar colors of blue and white with various designs of Christmas or Danish scenes. Hallmark: Royal Copenhagen; Denmark; Kai Lange: Rosenborg Slot; Rosenborg Castle

The tradition of Christmas plates started in Denmark in the late 19th Century. The Danish would give their hired help plates of homemade cookies and sweets for Christmas.
