This pretty little sterling silver mustard spoon is 4 3/8” in length. The spoon is in the Old English pattern marked with London hallmarks for the years 1827 -1828: Leopard’s Head; Date Letter; Lion Passant & Duty Mark. The makers mark is “JH” for Jonathan Hayne (Registered 1808), 1828-1832, London.
The spoon is in excellent condition, with no dents or nicks and no monograms.
The mustard spoon is often confused with the salt spoon. The bowl of the mustard spoon is always elongated to form a scoop, whereas the bowl of a salt spoon is round and deep.
