Antique Alabaster Sculpture of Anne of Cleves, Signed
This is a beautiful late 19th century hand carved alabaster sculpture. This is a bust of Anne of Cleves, the fourth wife of Henry VIII. She is wearing a headdress and a rose is at the base of her neckline. Her dress has a pink cast in the alabaster.
She is 9 1/4 tall and the base is 8 x 4 inches. Carved into the back is: Made in Italy and it is signed: G Masi. This is in very good condition.
Anne of Cleves was married to Henry the VIII on January 6, 1540. They were divorced on July 9, 1540 and later became very good friends.
