Antique Staffordshire Figurine of St Luke

Here is a rare antique Staffordshire porcelain figurine of St Luke. He is standing in front of a tree with a cow at his feet. The cow is the symbol for St Luke. He is reading a book and his name is impressed on the front of the base. The circa is 1830-1840.

The figurine is 9 1/2 inches tall. The base is 3 3/4 x 2 3/4 inches. The hands and the tree have been repaired. The repairs are visible in the images.

Staffordshire refers to items by potteries that sprang up in England's Staffordshire district in the early 18th Century. From 1840 to 1900, portrait figurines were created of real and fictional people. As a rule, Staffordshire is never marked.
