Antique Porcelain Urn With Putti Handles, circa 1870

For sale is a beautiful antique porcelain urn, possibly German. The lidded vase or urn, with its bulbous body sits on a footed base. The urn measures 15 1/2" height, with a base measurement of 5 ¼" x 5 ¼" across the bottom. It is decorated with two adorable putti holding up the bows in a floral wreath that drapes around both sides of the urn. The urn has alternating bands of pink, gold and white with numerous multi-colored flowers, both hand painted and applied. It has gold highlights from the lid to the base with tiny colorful nosegays scattered through out. Some of the applied flowers, in the wreath and on the matching lid, have some chipping. Also one of the putti's wings has been repaired and possible early repair to the top of the urn. The bottom of the bolted pedestal is marked with under glazed blue crossed swords, maker unknown.
