Hand Painted Porcelain Tile Painting of Chrysanthemums by Surber
We have been fortunate to acquire a collection of hand painted one-of-a-kind items by Master China Painter, Margaret Surber. Margaret Surber (American, 1913 - 2001) won many awards for her china painting, including three ribbons at the 1963 World's Fair in Seattle. She was the president of the International China Painting Teachers Association. She also wrote several books about how to paint on porcelain. This is another exquisite painting from that collection.
On porcelain tile she has painted a fall explosion of beautiful chrysanthemums. The flowers are in creamy ivory and various shade of yellow amid colorful leaves. The painting measures 10" x 8", it is signed and dated, 1975 on the bottom left side. The vintage ornate gold frame measures 13 ¼" x 11 ¼" and completes the painting. The condition of the art and frame is excellent with no chips, cracks or damage. This painting, like all the rest of her works, can best be appreciated in person...truly outstanding!
