Hand Painted Bavarian Porcelain Vase with Roses by Surber

Up for sale is a beautiful hand-painted, one-of-a-kind porcelain item by Master China Painter, Margaret Surber. On a pale green background, she has painted gorgeous pink wild roses with leaves. The vase, trimmed with 24kt gold highlights at the top and bottom, measures 8 1/2" x 4" x 2 1/4", it is signed on the side. The vase has a blue stamp with shield and crown on the bottom: Gerrold Tettau; Bavaria, Made in W. Germany; handgefertigt. The condition of the vase is excellent with no chips, cracks or damage.

Margaret Surber (American, 1913 - 2001) won many awards for her china painting, including three ribbons at the 1963 World's Fair in Seattle. She was the president of the International China Painting Teachers Association. She also wrote several books about how to paint on porcelain.
