For sale is a matching set of four Limoges plates, each one is hand-painted, one-of-a-kind by Master China Painter, Margaret Surber. Each hand-painted plate has a portrait of a beautiful young girl surrounded by 1" gold trimmed band. These plates measure 7 ¾" in diameter and are signed on the back by the artist along with the date of the painting, 1980. Also on the back of each plate is: Limoges, France; Hallmark is shield with France, wreath & star; A. Lanternier & Co, Limoges. The condition of each plate is excellent with no chips, cracks or damage. This set makes a stunning display! Sold as a set of four!
Margaret Surber (American, 1913 - 2001) won many awards for her china painting, including three ribbons at the 1963 World's Fair in Seattle. She was the president of the International China Painting Teachers Association. She also wrote several books about how to paint on porcelain.
