Made during the Depression years but not depressing in the least this satin glass powder jar is made beautiful with two long-tailed birds serving as the lid's handle and fabulous flowers standing out in relief on both the lid and base. The jar measures 4.5" tall and is 5" in diameter - large enough for lots o' powder and roomy enough for trinkets 'n jewels. Officially called "Parakeets" in the "Bedroom & Bathroom Glassware of the Depression Years" book, the jar has a few flaws as most do of this Era with the largest being a shallow 3/8" sliver on the front edge of the lid (see pic) and a smaller one on top of the bottom's edge (cannot be seen when top is on) as well as roughness along the inside edges in areas. No cracks. A gorgeous jar with lots of detail that's perfect for the dresser Diva in you. Betcha love it!
