Early 1900's Gould Cockatoo Prints in Oval Frames
The eras and years may come and go but the love for Cockatoos is timeless as illustrated by Gould and proven by these prints. The first features a pair of Rosebreasted Cockatoos at play while the second highlights Major Mitchell's (or Leadbeater) Cockatoos cuddling. Both are surrounded by an oval, wooden frame that's been painted gold and both are covered with glass and finished on the back with cardboard that's held on by nails, while a wire is provided for hanging. Each measures 12 3/8" x 10.25". The prints are in good condition for their age with the following exceptions: a stain is present on the bottom of the Rosebreasted print (see pic) and both exhibit darkening in the light areas from age. While sturdy, the frames have much wear to the paint and the Rosebreast's has chipping (see pic) which really isn't obvious when hung. Shabby Chic at its finest with birds in fabulous form and feathery detail. Love aged 'n avian? Love these!
