Very Old Monogrammed Brass Brooch w/Attaching Chain

This brooch is like a locket with wonderfully engraved initials - you decipher! It has a chain inside which is retractable (most of the time- sometimes it sticks). I believe a pencil would be attached. It has a Victorian appearance, marked 1903 by Ketchum McDougall of New York but I am not sure if this is the actual year - could be due to the monogramming. Measures one inch across.
