REVISED: Thanks to a very kind viewer, I have added some more information on this wonderful old ring. The black pearls surround a large cabochon amethyst measuring 5/16 by 1/4 inches. This stone sits high - see picture. Due to the design of the band there is no room for a gold mark and perhaps in the early Victorian era, it was not mandatory. I recently had this cleaned and we did notice under powerful loupe that there was a solder on one shoulder, hard to see. It does appear to be rose gold. The inscription reads: MARIA DAVID Ob '22 Feb 1840 A? (for aetatis meaning age of person memorialized) 64. Please see picture. The stone is set in rectangular frame which sits inside the ring and there is a very slight gap. One pearl has a blister, one has a hole in it, see a corner. On the ring sizer measures 7.75, Please study pictures closely and keep in mind this a very old ring. Questions gladly answered.
