This stunning and very large antique tankard style pitcher was made by Duncan Miller in the Button Arches pattern. It is ruby flashed or ruby stained and etched with the initials JB. The Button Arches pattern is common, but these large pitchers are rare. This Early American pattern or pressed glass (EAPG) pitcher dates to around 1900. It is a really beautiful and impressive piece.
It measures 12 inches to the top of the spout and about 5 inches across the body. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs to the glass. There are some small areas of wear to the ruby stain as is common with these pieces. The lighting when I photographed it was reflecting off of it making it look almost opaque, but it is a clear ruby red.
