Vintage Erphila Terrier Dog Teapot
This adorable vintage figural teapot or pitcher is in the form of a terrier dog and was made in Germany and imported to this country by Erphila. The Erphila mark was used on items imported by Ebeling & Reuss of Philadelphia It is a combination of the letters E and R (Ebeling & Reuss) and the first letters of the city, Phila(delphia). In the 1920s and 30s they imported a line of these figural teapots from Germany that include a cat, various dogs, and other animals. I think this is one of the cutest they made(I'm partial though, since I live with a terrier). The dog is posed 'sitting pretty' and the paws form the spout. The dog is black and white with a pink bow around his neck which forms the handle. Marked Erphila Germany on the bottom.

It measures 7 3/4 inches tall by 6 inches by 4 1/4. It is in excellent condition with only some minor crazing to the glaze.
