French Enamelware Sucre Sugar Canister
This round canister has a warm, chocolate brown color enamel with contrasting white bands and lettering. The white bands have a very fine stripe of black on both sides, which helps define the bright contrast against the brown. The front has a rectangular framed panel on which it states “Sucre”, which is French for “Sugar”. It has a moulded rib and button design around the body and the cover is a ‘step’ style leading to a pointed mushroom knob on top. The inside of the canister is a bluish gray color while the lid is brown on the underside.
It is marked “E.T. Depose” on the bottom. It is about 7 ¾” tall and about 4 ¾” across.
Very Good Condition: no cracks or dents. The canister has 3 pinhead size rim nicks and some wear on the foot; the cover has two no-show enamel chips on the rim and one ¼” chip on the top, as pictured.
