WWII Era Camp Shelby Framed Sister Keepsake Mississippi World War 2

We are pleased to present this wonderful World War 2 Era Camp Shelby Framed "Sister" Keepsake.

The pale yellow background has a flocked verse in the center and 6 vignettes on the sides, plus the American Eagle and Shield symbol, and "Camp Shelby, Miss." flocked in red. The fabric appears to be satin and it is hand stitched with a basting stitch to a cardboard backing and is in its original wood frame.

The verse reads as follows: To My Sister Nice to chat with, good to know Glad to have her, where I go Kind in trouble, bright in joy Suits exactly ~ can't say why Sweet and wholesome, always true That's my sister, yes, that's you.

Camp Shelby was opened in 1917 and in WWII, the 442nd Japanese American Regimental Combat Team, the 100th Battalion, and the Women's Army Corps (WAC's) trained at Camp Shelby. This piece dates from that era. The camp was named in honor of Isaac Shelby, an Indian fighter, Revolutionary War hero and eventually, the first Governor of Kentucky.

It measures 19" across and 18 ½" across.

Very Good Condition: no stains or holes; minor, even fading; one moisture spot that blends in well; the frame has several dings and deep scratches and the glass has a wide scratch in the center. The frame is sturdy and has a lovely patina but this should be reframed with archival materials.

This is a wonderful piece of history and it deserves a place of honor in a collection, so don't miss your opportunity to acquire this one! We always have a nice selection of vintage goodies, so please take a look at our offerings. We would be pleased to combine shipping on multiple purchases.
