Etling Opalescent Glass Mother Mary Figurine No 702 France Art Glass

This outstanding Etling Frosted Opalescent Mother Mary Madonna Figurine is a surprisingly heavy, hollow glass figurine. The glass has the highest quality opalescence that reflects blue as well as pink or gold, depending on the light and angle. We believe this figure is Mary, with her head bowed in prayer. She is depicted from the hips up, and sits on an oval base with a wide, flat foot. This piece shows the highly detailed work of a true artisan.

Etling worked in France between the 2 World Wars, so his body of work is relatively limited; most of his glass was produced at the Choisy-le-Roi glassworks close to Paris. He routinely worked with some of the best glass artists of the time, and he was a competitor of Lalique.

It is embossed "Etling; France; 702", and carries the original "Made in France" paper label. She stands about 4" tall and measures 3" by just over 2" across the bottom.

Excellent Condition: no chips, nicks, heavy scratches or cracks.
