Modernist Amber and Sterling Silver Pierced Earrings ca 1960s
These earrings have a large rectangular cabochon of honey color amber and both have many bits of leaves and other materials embedded inside. They have a warm color with a wonderful play of light. The mountings are sterling silver rectangles with slightly rounded corners giving them a sleek, streamlined look. They have beautiful biomorphic cutout designs enhancing the silver `frame'. The hinged clips fold over onto the posts to secure them in place. This type of fastener is referred to as an Omega back and they were used in the 1960's.
They are both marked "925" and measure about 7/8" tall and 3/4" wide. Total weight is about 9.9 grams.
Excellent Condition: no dents; minor use scratches with nice patina; posts are slightly bent.
