A William IV 18ct Gold Mourning Ring. Circa 1833.

A William IV period mourning ring. Made from 18ct gold. Composed of a rectangular bezel set with a glazed compartment containing hair in a chased work mount surrounded by black enamel bordered by seed pearls. Bifurcated scroll shoulders decorated with chased work and tear shaped black champleve enamel work. Fluted shank. The reverse of the bezel is engraved with the words; In Affection for Mr Thomas Loveland died 18 April 1834 aged 83. Hallmarked for London 1833-34. Measurements, ring size G.B T 1/2 U.S ring size 9 3/4 ( this ring can not be sized ). Bezel, width 1/2" ( 1.25 cm ), length 5/8" ( 1.6 cm ). Condition, Very Good, a good quality William IV period mourning ring.
