Decorative Darcy's Studio Handpainted Plate featuring 'Spring Tulips' on Fine Limoges Porcelain

A lovely hand painted floral plate hand decorated by Darcy's Studio of Kalamazoo, Michigan. A commercial China Studio, Darcy's produced high quality work and was a serious Chicago competitor of renown Pickard's Studio. This lovely piece is entirely hand painted by the artist 'Gert' (sp?). A wonderful naturalistic rendition, clearly painted by a very talented Edwardian Artist of the time.

Marked: Haviland France 1900 , numbered 1060

Condition: Excellent. No Chips, Cracks or Restorations.

Once considered the rare flower that only the wealthiest people could afford. In the early 1600s, "Tulip mania," was an actual phenomenon in which a tulip bulb could command the equivalent of $2,300 along with a notarized bills of sale to authenticate the bulb's origin and owner!
