Decorated with delicate Yellow Primroses against a lush background green and hints of violet, this lovely porcelain plate was Hand-painted by the renown artist 'Emile', the son of Jean Pouyat (see below for more information). We currently have several paintings by this artist on sale in our collection (on similar molds as well). As you will find, Emile's artistic range was very diverse, ranging from floral subjects to landscapes. This lovely rose painting framed in a High Relief Gold Lavished Border exemplifies his true artistic talent.
Pouyat Family Tree: Jean Pouyat established a company circa 1842 in Limoges and was succeeded by his sons Emile (1806-92), Louis (b 1809) and Leonard-Eugene (1817-76). Emile trained at Locre factory (Paris) and was head of the Limoges factory from 1849 to 1883. W. Guerin bought the Pouyat Limoges factory in 1911.
